Another Milestone!

I like to mark MILESTONES! On this VERY date in 2008, Nephew Aaron and I performed our VERY FIRST show together. There were 18 WONDERFUL people in the audience! We've been going strong ever since!

On THIS day in 2008, Nephew Aaron and I began REHEARSING our show that would become Aunt Dottie's Sing-along Cabaret. We sang through TONS of music in that first rehearsal -and threw MOST of it out! It was Broadway stuff, the stuff I'd been singing on the cruise ships and I wanted something NEW. So . . .  we switched to the music we love: ROCK N' ROLL (with a whole lot of peace and love thrown in!)

We have to give TREMENDOUS thanks to our amazing fans and Renton Civic Theatre for participating in our 5th Annual Mother's Day show! 

We had some fun honoring the moms! We even had some tap-dancing mommas in the show! And, Nephew Aaron's ukelele skills were featured on the stage for the FIRST time ever.

We always try to bring something new, fun and different each time. The best part is, we were able to raise some money to give to Vision House to help homeless families! THANK YOU!!

Name That Tune

Oh the places we go! Last night it was the City of Renton Volunteer Banquet to honor all the folks who volunteer their time to make our city great! It was so fun to play "Name That Tune" with everyone and sing a few songs! We love our hometown!

Next up is our Mother's Day show! We love showering all the families with love and then sending a portion of our proceeds to the amazing folks at Vision House! They are doing such important work to help homeless families.

Call Me

People call me all the time! They email me, they talk to me on Facebook and Twitter. I love it! I love hearing from our fans! And questions, they ask me questions. Many of them are about Nephew Aaron and I coming out to perform at special events. Those questions (or most of them) can be answered by clicking on our BOOKING INFO page! If we can make it work out, we'd love to be at your next event! We have a couple coming up soon and then, there's a our big Mother's Day Show on May 12th, 2pm at Renton Civic Theatre! Go big!

I was delighted to host Dance by Design's first ever Winter Showcase at Renton Civic Theatre in early January. This young dancer ended up doing a solo because his classmate was out sick on the day of the showcase. He showed no fear, he stepped up, went out onstage and danced his little heart out! No hesitation, just did the dance he'd learned to do with all his heart. Adorable. He got the biggest applause of the show! It was a good reminder for all of us: go big or go home. He didn't flinch. He didn't shy away from the task at hand, he just DID it! I was so proud of him and I know his folks were proud, too! A great lesson for ALL of us in the new year!

This is our FAVORITE time of year! This weekend, while Nephew Aaron is playing for all the fine folks at Keys on Main Seattle, I will be performing for the fine folks at the Kirkland Performance Center! Dec 14 - 16. THEN, we will be TOGETHER for our Christmastime Cabaret. Of COURSE we'll be at Renton Civic Theatre. 7:00 pm One night only this year for the holiday fun!! We hope to see you! It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!! Oh my! We are so excited for this time of year! We don't start singing Christmas Carols, though, until the Thanksgiving turkey has been eaten! THEN, we launch into it! We are getting ready for our Christmastime Cabaret on December 17th (at Renton Civic Theatre, of course!) and were wondering: WHAT is YOUR favorite Christmas Carol? What song do you just lovelovelovelove to hear/sing/play at this time of year! Do tell!

Thank you ALL who joined us yesterday at Renton Civic Theatre for our 4th Anniversary show! You amaze us with your talent! Singing, dancing - you ARE the stars of our show and thank you for helping us raise money for CRYOUT!! We'll be back in less than a month for our Christmas extravaganza on December 17, 2012. Tell all your friends, the more the merrier as we like to say. In the meantime, enjoy Thanksgiving! We love you!

POWER TO THE PEOPLE

John Lennon sang, "Power to the people." When you give people power, they can change the WORLD. Like our friends at CRYOUT! who are doing their best to make the world a better place by helping Renton-area youth. CryOut! is a non profit organization that uses music, dance, arts and workshops to empower the youth, developing them to be leaders . . . I like that. I like it so much that a portion of the proceeds from THIS Sunday's show is going to CryOut! This is our 4th Anniversary show! As always, there will be special guests, prizes and tons of peace, love & rock n' roll! Won't you join us??

I LOVE A PARADE!

So, we're happy that we're going to "Duck into fun!" in the Renton River Day's parade! This is the 27th year for the Renton River Day's festival and Nephew Aaron and I are thrilled to be part of the action! Parade starts at 10:00 am and runs along South 3rd Street. Great viewing in front of Renton Civic Theatre!! See you there!

IN THE SUMMERTIME

It may not FEEL like summertime when you step outside but it was summertime INSIDE the theatre this past Sunday! We send love and hugs to all the fine folks who joined us on June 24th to celebrate the end of the school year AND to help out HEED UGANDA! We filled Renton Civic with all the peace, love & rock n' roll that we could and it was so nice to be able to support the fine work they are doing for kids in Uganda. We feel like we have the greatest audiences in the world. You know, sometimes you put yourself out there and you produce a show and you don't know if anyone will come (or if anyone cares) but we ALWAYS find out that people DO come and they DO care. In fact, every show we do, we are so blessed with amazing moments and wonderful audience members! Here are a few pictures from the show (I have a new outfit!) Currently the next show on our schedule is in November but, we'll post an update if we book anything sooner. I will post here all summer long, of course! I cannot keep quiet, just like I cannot keep still and I cannot stop singing! We love you all!

YOU CAN DO IT

. . . all you need is a hand . . . these lyrics are from "Everything's Coming up Roses" from the musical GYPSY. So true. Sometimes we just need a hand in life. Don't they say, "Its always darkest before the dawn."? I was enchanted the other night by Helen, a 95-years YOUNG theatre patron who says her secret to a long life is focusing on OTHERS not on herself! Amazing. She dances in the aisles and loves to get her toes tapping! Everyone has skills and talents they can use to help others. Think about it. What's YOUR talent? What is that one thing YOU do better than anyone else?? Now, how can you use that talent to HELP others?? Nephew Aaron and I use what God gave us to perform but, not just to show off, to include others AND to share a portion of our proceeds. Some shows we don't make a lot, but we always have something to give back. For our show on the 24th of June, we've chosen HEED UGANDA. We hope you'll join us, that way YOU can help us give!!

BE THE CHANGE

You can change the world. One person. One idea. One passion. I have a passion to infect and inject the world with peace, love and rock n' roll! I believe if I can put a little good out there and if people leave one of our shows feeling just a little better about themselves, life and the world . . . . well, they'll bring a little bit of that with them like a sunbeam and the world will be a better place! I am also passionate about people who are out there trying to make this world a better place, like HEED UGANDA. That's why we are giving a portion of our proceeds from our next show to this fine organization. You can be a part of that change just by coming out and joining us!! 7pm. Sunday, June 24, 2012.
