Renton Historical Society
Last night was the Renton Historical Society's gala "History Making Event". It was a grand night out at the Renton Senior Center on the shores of the Cedar River, supporting the brilliant work and positive impact the Renton History Museum makes in our community. Nephew Aaron and I were honored to host the event and so glad to see so much wonderful support for this gem in our community! I wore my high-heeled tennis shoes when I found out they were having a dessert dash but, found out I didn't need them, after all. A dessert dash is much more civilized than I expected! Congratulations to all the raffle winners, the silent auction winners and the live auction winners! They got some amazing things AND helped a great cause. Special thanks to those of you who "raised the paddle" to support the RHS with a generous cash donation. It is folks like you who are making a difference and ensuring that history is preserved and shared in our community! Love, Aunt Dottie

TIME FLIES!
Time flies when you're having fun! For those of you who follow me on Facebook you already know that Nephew Aaron and I are getting ready for our 6th Anniversary Show at Renton Civic Theatre!
Which means, that 6 years ago, I had just left the cruise ships and was just getting used to living on dry land!
I'm still amazed that Leonard and I have been married so long, but, perhaps it is because he isn't a showbiz fella and we're not fighting for mirror space or stage time!
A lot has happened in 6 years! Nephew Aaron has gotten married AND he and his wife, Niece Rachel welcomed their dear sweet baby into the world this past January. We've performed so many places and still look forward to coming back to "home base" at Renton Civic!
We hope you'll join us:

Don't Let ANYONE
I learned a looooong time ago that haters are gonna hate.
If 100 people tell you you're a great roller-skater and the 101st person tells you that you're a terrible roller-skater, chances are, you're going to listen to the voice of that ONE person over the voice of the 100.
Right? Of course I'm right, 'cause I do it myself!!
So, now I've got this little picture to remind me to listen to the loving crowd, not the hating minority.
Sending you lots of peace, love and rock n' roll today!!

Happy Anniversary
On THIS day in 2008, Nephew Aaron and I began REHEARSING our show that would become Aunt Dottie's Sing-along Cabaret. We sang through TONS of music in that first rehearsal -and threw MOST of it out! It was Broadway stuff, the stuff I'd been singing on the cruise ships and I wanted something NEW. So . . . we switched to the music we love: ROCK N' ROLL (with a whole lot of peace and love thrown in!)
I hope you'll SAVE THE DATE and JOIN us for our 5th Anniversary show!

| Of course, there were PRIZES! |
![]() |
| Of course, we sang LOTS of rock n' roll . . .and I might've rapped a little. . . |
![]() |
| And the audience was encouraged to participate -and they did, these boys came up to dance. REAL men DANCE! |
![]() |
| And I only made this baby cry when I suggested that his Mama don't dance (and his Daddy don't rock n' rol)l |

| More of the dancing boys! They were great!! |

| And all this fun happened at LUTHER'S TABLE in Downtown Renton!! |

Summer in the City
We are THRILLED that we are adding a new venue to our roster! We are so honored to announce that we will be performing at LUTHER'S TABLE in downtown Renton, WA on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at 7pm! This is a family-friendly venue and will be fun for the entire family. Luther's serves great food and drink in a fun atmosphere. JUST across the street from Renton High School's Ikea Performing Arts center, so it is super-easy to find! We look forward to seeing you there!!

POWER TO THE PEOPLE
John Lennon sang, "Power to the people." When you give people power, they can change the WORLD. Like our friends at CRYOUT! who are doing their best to make the world a better place by helping Renton-area youth. CryOut! is a non profit organization that uses music, dance, arts and workshops to empower the youth, developing them to be leaders . . . I like that. I like it so much that a portion of the proceeds from THIS Sunday's show is going to CryOut! This is our 4th Anniversary show! As always, there will be special guests, prizes and tons of peace, love & rock n' roll! Won't you join us??

DO YOU BELIEVE IN MAGIC?
I certainly do! I believe in the magic that happens when people get together and sing and laugh. I believe in the magic of people doing nice things for each other. I believe in the magic of smiling at strangers and forgiving others. I believe in the magic of giving grace versus holding a grudge. I believe in the magic of supporting others as they follow their heart. I believe in the magic of peace, love and rock n' roll. . .
