This ain't your mama's cabaret! Nope, this raucous, rowdy, interactive show is different every time! Aunt Dottie and her Nephew Aaron have been bringing their unique brand of entertainment to audiences since 2008 and are pleased as punch to be King County 4Culture Touring Artists. Book them for YOUR convention, party, or special event! Aunt Dottie is always the "hostess with the mostess" and, along with Nephew Aaron on the keys, can keep any event lively and unique!

Check out their calendar to find dates/locations of their stage show so you can join the fun as they put their own spin on pop, rock, standards and just about any other genre of music your heart desires!!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Thank you all for the birthday wishes. May 4th! It was an odd and interesting birthday what with staying safe at home and all!

I spend my Friday nights enjoying Nephew Aaron as he livestreams on Facebook and takes requests. I sing and dance along in my kitchen.

My hope is that you are all safe, happy and healthy during these times!

Onward and upward friends! Onward and Upward!

LET YOUR LOVE FLOW

The lyrics to that Bellamy Brothers song was running through my head this morning. You know me, friends, I'm on Facebook, I'm on Twitter, I lovelovelove to connect with friends and I'd have to be from another planet to NOT realize that it is election season! Hooray! The democratic process in action! The beauty of our country is that we have the right to express our opinions and vote for the person we want to vote for. But, through it all, let's remember to let our love flow, someone doesn't need to believe what I believe to be deserving of my love. Our differences make life interesting!! As my mama used to say, "If we were all the same, the world would be a pretty boring place." I love you all, with your opinions and ideas and beliefs Just remember to let your love flow and remember that someone YOU love thinks differently from you!

TEACHERS

I believe that EVERYONE is a teacher AND everyone is a student. I always think it is funny when people reach a point where they behave as if - and honestly think - that they “know it all”! And it makes me sad when I meet someone who believes they have nothing to teach others. To me, what makes life SO very fascinating is what I learn from EVERYONE I meet! I might not agree with someone. I might not like their behavior. But, I appreciate what they teach. Even a disagreement can be a lesson, right?  I’m probably getting this quote wrong but, it goes something like, “Speak (argue?) as if you’re right, listen as if you’re wrong.” I don’t always succeed with that –especially when it comes to “loud conversations” with my current husband, Leonard, but, I do my best! Leonard teaches me lovely things every day and Nephew Aaron has taught me how to TWITTER and FACEBOOK and all those amazing things! What can your friends (and enemies!) and family teach YOU today?? Think about it! I love you, sweeties! ~Aunt Dottie

FRIDAY FUN

When I was new to  TWITTER  my Nephew Aaron had to teach me that #FF translated to "Follow Friday". But, before he told me, I thought it meant "Friday Fun". Hee hee! I'm glad I asked him, though, so I could know what everyone was talking about. I just love learning new things! When I was performing (and living) on cruise ships I wasn't really aware of the internet or Twitter or Facebook but now I know and I'm learning more each day! I love learning new things! Don't you? Since I've settled on dry land, I've taken classes in: driving, cooking, tap dancing and social media. What did you learn this past week? I'd love to know! ~Aunt Dottie

GOOD COMPANY

Do you keep good company? Who do you follow? On Facebook? Or twitter? Or via television, magazines, in the newspaper? And of COURSE in real life? Who do you consider "good company"?? The company you keep is a reflection of YOU. The more time you devote to following or interacting with someone usually has a direct impact on your day. If you spend time interacting with someone upbeat and positive doesn't it make your day just a little better? I love those friends who always have a smile and a kind word and a sweet outlook on the world! Thank you for making my days that much sweeter! I love the company I keep and am so happy you are a part of my life! I send you love today, friends! ~Aunt Dottie

YOU CAN "LIKE" US

I feel a little like Sally Field that one year when she kept saying to the Oscar audience, "You like me! You really like me!" Hee hee! Nephew Aaron & I now have our very own Facebook page! Click HERE to see it and once you're there, if you have a facebook account, you can click "LIKE" to "like" it. All of this confuses me a little bit, but Nephew Aaron assures me that THIS is what the cool kids do; they have a fancy Facebook page! You know me, just like my beloved City of Renton, I like to be ahead of the curve! So, thanks to Nephew Aaron, we have a Facebook Page. Hee hee!

Haven't you been enjoying this rainy, sunny, snowy, hailing, thunder-and-lightning-y SPRING? What the heck?? I will say that I'm hopeful that "April showers brings May flowers" is true because I have been getting a little homesick for the tropical breezes of the cruise ships. Just when I think I cannot take another moment, then the sun bursts out and all is well again. Phew!

I really DO want sunny May flowers, especially on MOTHER'S DAY! That is when we have our next show and I'm SO excited because for this show, we are designating a portion of the proceeds to go to VISION HOUSE! This makes my heart very happy because Vision House's motto is "No Homeless Kids". It has been around since 1990 and Vision House and is located right HERE in Renton, Washington! One of the things they do is provide transitional housing and support services to homeless mothers and children. See why we want to help them?

And you can help them, too, just by coming out to our Mother's Day show!!

AUDACIOUS DREAMS

What are YOUR audacious dreams for 2011? Just feels like the YEAR for them, doesn't it? So many friends that converse with me on Facebook or Twitter give me that impression, too, that ALL of you are planning big and wonderful things for the year. Not talking about resolutions, talking about BIG plans and dreams fulfilled. Whenever something in the world bothers me, I resolve to put even MORE peace, love & rock n' roll back IN to the world!

I cannot tell you how GRATEFUL I am for all you dear and wonderful friends who come to our shows. I'll let you in on a secret, my AUDACIOUS dream for 2011 is to bring our show to even MORE people! You can help me with this dream, too, by JUST telling your friends and family about our show; and, if you have a theatre near you that you'd love to have us perform in, please tell the people that run those theatres to contact me!! I'd love to see if we could set something up!

Nephew Aaron and I are so excited to be taking our show back to Winter Park, FL in February. But first, we'll be back at our unofficial "home base" of Renton Civic Theatre. My goodness do I love that theatre! It is beautiful and warm and wonderful and I've met so MANY wonderful people there!

Wishing you ALL peace, love and rock n' roll ten days into this grand and glorious year!!

AUNT DOTTIE SHOWS FOR SEPTEMBER

It's Dottiepalooza with two shows (count 'em) in a row!!

I just booked two shows for the end of September at the lovely Renton Civic Theater. My Nephew Aaron is busy on Saturday night so our next-door neighbor, Mark, is going to play piano on that night and Nephew Aaron will be back for the Sunday matinee.

Who knew that neighbor Mark could play piano?? I've lived next-door to him and he's such a busy fellow, I wave and yell but he just always hurried into his house, busy, busy. Then, on those HOT days this summer, all the windows were open I heard piano music and realized it was neighbor Mark! Soooooooo, one night when I woke up at 2:00 a.m. and Nephew Aaron was out and about; why, I just knocked on next-door neighbor Mark's door and asked him if he'd play a tune for me.

THERE WILL BE PRIZES!!

The show runs TWO performances:

Aunt Dottie's (happy hour) Cabaret
Saturday, September 26, 2009
8:00 p.m.
With Aunt Dottie's Neighbor Mark (Rabe) on piano
and Special Guest: KELLY WRIGHT
***************

Aunt Dottie's (early bird) Cabaret

SUMMERTIME, SUMMERTIME!

It is nearly the 4th of July and as we ease on into the summer I know many of you have wanted to know WHEN Aunt Dottie and Nephew Aaron will be performing in July. I hate to keep you all waiting and just wanted to let you know that we are closer to finalizing a date. IF we do a show in July, we are hoping for Sunday, July 19, 2009 at 7 p.m.

YOU, MY DEAREST FANS, WILL BE THE FIRST TO KNOW if we are going to be doing that show. We will probably take the month of August off for rest and relaxation and then will be back again in the Fall with a regular schedule of dates!

I miss all of my amazing folks and cannot wait to see you all again really soon!

In the meantime, you KNOW that Nephew Aaron and I do private parties and events so, if you are interested us in booking us for your venue, please email me: auntdottiesings@hotmail.com !

Because I am intent on spreading peace, love, and rock 'n roll around the universe, you can follow Aunt Dottie on Twitter or become Aunt Dottie's friend on Facebook .

Until we see you again, please keep on making your own kind of music!

xoxo
