I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the iPod is one of my favorite things in the world! Please, if you know the person who invented it tell them that Aunt Dottie is eternally grateful! James Taylor’s “Shower the People you Love with Love” came up on my shuffle and I think for the first time I really heard the opening lyrics to this song: “You can play the game and you can act out the part / Though you know it wasn't written for you.”
I have no way of knowing what Mr. Taylor intended with these lyrics but, I see those words on the page and it makes me think about people who are NOT living the lives they were meant to live. They are living lives that someone ELSE told them they were “supposed” to live.
As we’re growing up, people have good intentions when they tell us what we “should” and “shouldn’t” do. Some people spending the lives that their parents or teachers told them to live. They have a severe and sad case of “adultitis”. I just learned that word from my new cyber-friends, Kim and Jason.
